Areti Leopoulou

Art historian, curator, and Deputy Artistic Director at MOMUS–Thessaloniki Museum of Photography

Areti Leopoulou (b. 1977) is an art historian, curator, and Deputy Artistic Director at MOMUS–Thessaloniki Museum of Photography. She holds a PhD in Art History from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has spent the past two decades working across museums and contemporary art institutions, curating exhibitions, leading research and publishing projects, and developing international collaborations.

Her work explores how exhibitions and museums can become spaces for dialogue, participation, and new narratives. With a particular interest in interdisciplinary artistic practices and the relationship between art and everyday life, she develops projects that connect research with public engagement. Alongside her museum practice, she teaches in higher education and regularly publishes on contemporary art, curatorial practice, and its relationship to society.
