Spyros Efst. Tzamarias (PhD 1986) is Professor Emeritus of the Department of Physics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Throughout his 45-year research career, he has made significant contributions to advancing fundamental knowledge in his field. He has participated in and led teams of scientists in international research programs in Particle and Astroparticle Physics at the Fermi accelerator center (FRMILAB) in the USA, at CERN, in the neutrino telescope experiment "Nestor", at the European underwater telescope KM3NET, at the cosmic ray telescope HELYCON - ASTRONEU, among others. He contributes to research in New Physics and to the development of new detector technologies for future accelerators and cosmological observations, as well as to the development of instrumentation and experimental methodologies for measuring CP violation in neutrino oscillations. Additionally, he has played a key role in the development, organization, and management of research and education at the institutions he has served (CERN, University of Liverpool, E.K.E.F.E. "Demokritos", National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), serving as Dean, Academic Director, Laboratory Director, and Director of Postgraduate Studies. He has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses and supervised a large number of master's and doctoral theses.

The body of his written work, beyond his published scientific papers, includes university textbooks, training books for physics educators, and books aimed at enhancing public understanding of science. He is also the author of a literary/historical novel in which he presents the early scientific achievements of Modern Physics.
